Ask a question about this product

The SCM19 features ATC’s famous Super Linear Technology mid-bass drive unit, identical in specification to that used by ATC’s Active 20 Pro model, which is employed by many studios around the world.

Super Linear Technology reduces third harmonic distortion by 10-15dB between 100Hz and 3kHz, improving male voice articulation and piano.

Manufactured in house to exacting tolerances, ATC’s drivers are legendary for their many design innovations. For instance, our hand-wound short voice coils use only high density edge-wound flat OFC wire and operate in a precision long magnetic gap.

Front and rear magnetic venting not only reduces airflow and noise, but increases power handling and long term reliability. Meanwhile, massive motor assemblies offer no-compromise optimisation for each voice coil diameter.

I have just purchased a pair of SCM19's from Wicked Digital and can't stop smiling. After returning my $8000 VAF 1-66Mk2's to their maker with a blown midrange after 2 weeks. Using my refund option I spent around 30% of the VAF's price on my ATC's. VAF's CEO told me his speakers were lower in distortion and more detailed than almost any speaker. Well, I got rid of the Stonehenge sized VAF's and ended up with a pair of 44cm speakers which are more detailed, incredibly punchy and to my ear, more accurate. A great speaker at a great price!

The 19’s bass is some of the best around for a bookshelf of this size. If you’ve looked at the 19’s specs, forget them and remember SonicFlare’s motto: Measurements Mean Jack. ATC uses a measuring method different from most everyone in home hi-fi. Just know the bass, with real room placement and loading, is going to pound you like little else in this category can. ATCs are known for extremely smooth bass without bloat, and the 19s are some of the tightest out there. The ATC SCM-19 is the prototypical Precise-type speaker and, arguably, the most important. Combining hyper-accurate Precise sound with output suitable for the vast majority of listening spaces, the “19” is the ATC that’ll find its way into most people’s homes and convert Refined listeners to Precise lovers.

The SCM19s uncompromising approach might not suit all tastes, but there are few better speakers below the two grand mark (pounds). If you think hi-fi is about hearing whatever the source delivers, good or bad, these are for you.

..This transparency to the signal extends to timing, which is never anything other than on the money. In the bottom end, the spec suggest a 54Hz bass roll-off, but that is a misleading figure. In room, the speaker can shift remarkable amounts of air for it’s size…This is a speaker for the purist who wants to hear exactly what the band really put on tape, rather than a smoother, sweeter version of events. It offers uncanny transparency for the money but takes no prisoners.
