 The browser with a keen eye may have noticed the Dayens brand appear on our site a few weeks ago, but up to now we have said very little about the brand. Today we received our first 'sample' shipment of Dayens products including three speaker models and a killer integrated amplifier which we will be offering later in the the year.
The first of the speakers we want to tell you about is the amazing little Dayens Tizo. This is a small speaker with a 3" mid/bass driver and 25mm ring radiator tweeter, both from Peerless. I am sure you are ready to dismiss this speaker immediately because of the diminutive size of the bass driver right? Well, please do your self a favour and read on as this is no ordinary speaker.
The Tizo uses two Peerless drivers, crossed over with a quality crossover network designed by Dayens themselves using high quality components. The efficiency is a tad low at 84.5db, and the recommended power to use with them is 25-80 watts. We said these were small, and we mean it, the rear ported cabinet which is made of 19mm MDF, is only 240mm high, 240mm deep and 140mm wide. The finish is real walnut veneer, hand rubbed with oils to preserve the natural woods finish and acoustic properties.
If you are looking for a speaker that delivers excellent sound staging, fast dynamics and a detailed and revealing midrange, for a small to medium sized room, then you owe it to yourself to audition these speakers. You will be surprised by just how much bass a speaker of this size can produce and just how satisfying a speaker like this can be.
