By connecting the other end to your DAC, you will enjoy good quality audio, same as what can be achieved with the M2Tech HiFace except these two devices are limited to 24bit/96kHz where the HiFaces can do 24bit/192kHz.

Before we get further into that, lets look at the differences between them. The USB Link has a USB at one end, and at the other, a 75ohm BNC connector. The USB Light Link is designed for use with Bel Canto's DAC3.5VB which has a fiber optic input, and for that reason the USB Light Link has a Fiber Optic output at the other end. The use of Fiber Optic allows for significantly longer cable runs, for example from your office in the front of your house, to the living room at the rear, with no loss.

So why would yo use one of these over the HiFace products? Simple, many of us have few if any high res files, and even fewer have 24bit/192kHz audio flies. And in this case, no advantage in having the HiFace. The Bel Canto products unlike the HiFaces, does not require any software to function, because like all USB products designed to work at 24bit/96kHz, they simply just work as the inbuilt USB drivers are designed to work at that level. It is only when you go above 24/96 that software is required. The advantage of this of course is that as you upgrade your computer's operating system, you do not need to wait for new drivers to be released to get up and running again. So ultimately, it is all about simplicity of installation and on going operation.

So, if you have a good DAC already but it's USB input does not sound great, (or it does not have a USB input at all), and would like to move into high quality audio playback from your computer with a simple worry free plug and play installation, then grab yourself a Bel Canto USB Link and sit back, enjoy the music!

The Bel Canto USB Link 24/96, the must-have component for computer hard disc music systems. The USB Link 24/96 converts a computer-derived USB input of up to 24 bits and 96kHz to SPDIF and outputs the signal on a 75 ohm BNC.

If you’ve gathered much of your music on hard disk you’ve without doubt thought of how to keep your computer handy while running a long USB connection to your DAC. Of course, USB is only good for about 15 feet and you may need more.
