Well, the first thing that strikes you upon looking closely at any Brik product, is the quality of the manufacturing. The build quality is what you would expect from a major brand Japanese manufacturer. It defies logic that they can produce this level of quality for the price.

Their product range includes the DAC and Bluetooth Stage discussed here, but they offer enough other product to put together a complete system except for speakers. The range includes a 20 watt per channel integrated amplifier, a killer Internet Radio unit with both Ethernet and wireless with FM and music streaming functions and a Power Master unit which can replace all the high quality power supplies we include, with one single power supply that makes system turn on/off a very simple affair.

So that is the range and the potential of Brik, now the DAC...it is a 16bit/44.1/48kHz DAC that offers three inputs: USB, Coaxial and Optical. The USB port uses the smaller type connector similar to the one found on digital cameras which limits you cable options significantly. But at this level I doubt you would be looking to mate it with a high-end Locus Design USB cable anyway right?

The sound quality of this DAC is very good and while it is no match for a Calyx DAC or M2Tech Young, for it's target customer it offers an awful lot of bang for buck, and enough inputs to satisfy most desktop systems and most small audio systems.

The Bluetooth Stage is the surprise package here, as I did not expect it to offer listenable sound via Bluetooth, but I have say, regardless of Bluetooths limited upper frequencies, it offers a decent sound. No it will not replace your SACD player if you are that way inclined, but when a mate comes over with a new album on his iPhone, this is THE bit of kit to have to playback that new album through your system, very cool!

Both these units are on display in our store now along with the integrated amplifier, internet radio and power master units. So if you are looking to complete your desktop system or build a new one from the ground up for your home or office, audition the Brik range before making the final decision, you will be very surprised! And no, there are no corners cut here, just a pure audio bargain!
