You learn a lot about a person with that level of communication, and we bonded in that short time. My visit to CES in January was in part to meet with Lee for the very first time. I remember not knowing what he looked like, having only seen a picture of him from behind, but I knew he had a pony tail.
I remember the very first morning at CES as I walked down the hallway as I headed for the Bel Canto room, I could see a man with his back to me, who had a pony tail and I thought, surely not? I walked around to the front of him so I could see his name tag, and sure enough it was Lee. Over the next few days we spent some time together at various audio rooms, and bars. Our friendship was bonded...
Sadly, on Friday the 19th of August, Lee passed away in his sleep.
Ultimately I have known him for only 11 months and yet I feel I have lost a long time friend. Lee was the type of guy who welcomed you into his life with open arms. He was always gracious and humble, we did business on a handshake, and nothing was ever too much trouble for him, even though behind the exterior 'normality' was a man with many pressures, both business and personal.
Lee leaves behind many loved ones, and many friends with whom I share a great respect for Lee the man, and Lee the Audio Designer. I do not think I have ever met a man who was so universally respected by his peers. I along with all of those friends and family members, will miss him dearly.
Every email I ever received from Lee, ended with a simple word....Peace.
I truly hope you have found exactly that Lee.
Please read a 'reflection' from one of Lee's greatest friends, Josh Heiner from Sonicweld.
