The top of the line stand mount speaker, the XN270, is one such product that has simply blown away all those who have reviewed it, and it is a speaker that is close to the heart of company owner and designer, Roberto Barletta.
You see Roberto is a huge classical music fan, and in particular Opera. And this speaker was designed to reveal as much of a recordings detail as possible and to make you feel like the voice of the singer is in the room with you.
Being a sealed box design, placement to is a little easier than with a ported design, and bass extension of this speaker is rather surprising, with the specification suggesting 42Hz n the bass region. However being a sealed box design the bass rolls off rather more gently than a ported design and as such it offers enough extension to be all you need for most music reproduction.
In practice this rings true, as the XN270 more often than not fools those who listen to it in our showroom, as many do not believe it is this reasonably compact stand mount speaker that is producing such wonderfully rich music.
As good as the bass output is, the midrange and top end detail is where this speaker shines, with a superbly extended top end that offers more 'air' than an ATC for example, and although they do not match the absolute 'quantity' of midrange the ATCs offer,, they offer enough to provide exceptional sound without the drawbacks of the ATCs pronounced mid range, which is to high light far too many CDs shortcomings!
When mated to their matching Xavian stands, they make for an impressive bit of kit. The superb hand finished cabinets and top spec Scan Speak Revelator drivers combine to look nothing short of stunning. They are a product you are proud to have on display in your home.
If you are in the market for a high-end stand mount speaker, you simply have to audition this wonderful speaker.
"They produce all the bass that is necessary for realistic reproduction of drums, acoustic bass, and the low octaves of the piano. I never felt the need for any additional bass output with any of the music that I listened to...Their midrange reproduction is as good as I have ever heard. Hearing the XN270s reproduce vocal music while driven by the Grant Fidelity A-534B's 300B tubes was not an experience I am going to easily forget. High frequency reproduction is superb. The overtones of bells, wind instruments, and cymbals were reproduced both realistically and with excellent control. Soundstaging is as good as I have heard...The more I have listened to the XN270s, however, the more they have seduced me with their musical performance into viewing them as fully justifying their cost. Listen to them at your own peril....If you have the opportunity to audition these speakers, do it."
