Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100

It was not long ago that Cambridge audio released the new DacMagic Plus to replace the ageing original DacMagic. You would have thought that Cambridge Audio would have been content with that, not so it would seem!
The DacMagic 100 appears to be the new Plus model with a bunch of features removed, such as the headphone amplifier, preamplifier function, balanced outputs and digital filtering.
Thankfully it retains the 24bit/192kHz USB input, along with optical and two coaxial digital inputs as well. It's physical size is much smaller than the Plus or the original DacMagic for that matter, and seems to be designed to mate with Cambridge Audio's own iD100 iPod Dock with digital output.
Like all Cambridge Audio DACs and CD players, the new DacMagic 100 uses a Wolfson converter chip, in this case the WM8742, which is NOT the chip used in the Plus model where they employ the services of the WM8740. Expected to ship in February with Australian pricing around $250-$300.
